Wild Oak Productions
Premium sports documentaries built on exclusive access and human stakes.
Our Work
Sport is never just sport.
It is belief.
It is identity.
It is inheritance.
It is a stage where myth and memory are made in real time.
Wild Oak Productions creates cinematic documentaries rooted in access, shaped by character, and driven by human stakes. We are drawn to stories where ambition collides with consequence — where the scoreboard tells only part of the truth.
Our films live in the tension between public spectacle and private reality.
Our Approach
We build our projects from the
inside out.
That means firsthand interviews.
Private archives.
Long-form conversations.
Time spent where others don’t look.
We believe the most compelling sports stories are not about highlights — they are about belief systems. The pressures beneath performance. The institutions behind opportunity. The cost of chasing something larger than yourself.
Each project begins with access and ends with understanding.
Why it Matters
Sport has become one of the last shared mythologies in American life.
It shapes communities.
It creates heroes.
It manufactures memory.
But behind every myth is a person.
Our work seeks the human story beneath the spectacle — the private truth behind the public image.
Spencer Klein
Founder & Executive Producer, Wild Oak Productions
Spencer Klein is a producer drawn to stories about ambition — the kind that builds myth, reshapes identity, and leaves something behind.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, he grew up surrounded by the mechanics of entertainment and the spectacle of performance. After graduating from Skidmore College, he returned to the industry and spent more than a decade working across premium unscripted television, contributing to series such as Is It Cake?, Project Runway, and Project Greenlight. His experience spans reality competition, true crime, house reality, and emerging vertical formats — formats built on pressure, personality, and consequence.
Over time, his focus shifted from the mechanics of competition to the people inside it.
Through Wild Oak Productions, Spencer develops character-driven documentaries rooted in exclusive access and long-form storytelling. His work examines the systems behind performance — the institutions, belief structures, and cultural myths that shape ambition in American life.
He is interested in the space where spectacle ends and truth begins.
